What Happened?
It all started with a woman coming forward with her story of harassment. When others stood with her, they were all sued by the man in question in order to silence and intimidate.
How Much Did This Cost?
SLAPP lawsuits are intended to intimidate and punish its victims financially by slowly bleeding them of resources. While the lawsuit is over (and so are the bills), our total costs come to $266,000. As of January 2020, we still have $148,629.65 left to pay off.
What is a SLAPP Lawsuit?
SLAPP lawsuits (or strategic lawsuits against public participation) intended to censor, intimidate, and silence critics by burdening them with the cost of a legal defense until they abandon their criticism or opposition.
